BereiShis, EXACTLY 120 Words – This Land is Ours

Since we learned our first Rashi, when we hardly had brains enough to have even the vaguest notion of what was going on, and we certainly had no life experience – and our teachers did not bother to explain to us the significance [just as well, we wouldn’t have had the patience]: we were taught a foundational concept of critical importance.

Rashi on Chumash taught us this. The very first Rashi of the Torah – answering the weirdest of questions – why bother telling us about Gd creating the world?

So we should know [it’s for no one but us] that Gd is entitled to choose to give us the land of Israel.

We are owners even if we were not there first.
