Sedra Ki SaVo, 120 words – Gd! You Promised!
A verse that mysteriously is almost universally sung or hummed by the congregation as the Torah reader chants it – HashKiFa [26:15 – Look down from Your holy abode, from the heaven, and bless Your people, the Jews, and the land that You gave to us, as you promised to our fathers, a land that flows with milk and honey]
- What is Gd looking at?
- Who is instructing Gd to look?
- Who is instructing Gd to bless?
- Why does the Passuk begin being spoken by an outsider but concludes being spoken by us?
- Where does Gd promise that the land flows with milk and honey? [RamBan]
We are instructing HKBH to witness that we have honoured our part of the deal and now HKBH must bless us as He promised, “If you will follow my statutes …”
And the latter part “and the land that You gave to us, as you promised to our fathers, a land that flows with milk and honey” is to be read thus – the land that You promised our fathers that You would give to us, You did give to us and it flows with milk and honey.
